Cable
The transition sleeve is designed to connect 10 and 35 kV single or three-core shielded cables with oil-paper insulation (MI, MIND) and a separate metallic sheath for each core and single or three-core shielded cables with plastic insulation.
E.g.: AOSBU-APvPG, OSB-PvPG.
Transition coupling design with screw connectors
The contact between the armor of the three-core oil cable and the metal sheaths is ensured by a non-solderable earth fitting. A heat-shrink glove and tubing shall be seated on the metal sheathing to provide root protection and sealing. An oil-resistant yellow electric field control mastic shall be wrapped around the end of the metal sheath and transparent oil-resistant heat-shrink tubing shall be planted on the oil-paper insulated cores. In this way, the oil-paper insulated cable is transformed into a plastic insulated cable, and the two cables are then connected accordingly. A yellow void-filling mastic shall be wrapped over the cut-off point of the semi-conductive shield of the plastic cable. Thermal shrink tubing for electric field control shall be planted on the cores of the plastic cable and the cores of the oil cable. The cores shall be connected using the screw connectors included in the coupling set. A yellow void filling mastic seals the ends of the oil cable cores and a wide electric field control tape is wrapped around the joint area. A double-layered Thermo shrinks elastomeric tube provides the required insulation thickness and shielding over the insulation. A copper mesh wrapped over the splice area of the cores serves as a metallic shield for the cable in the sleeve. The metal sheath of the oily cable and the metal shield of the plastic cable shall be connected using an unsoldered earth fitting. The external protection and sealing of the sleeve shall be provided by a thick-walled Thermo shrink tube with an inner surface coated with a layer of thermosetting adhesive. These tubes shall be planted on each core.
Transition coupling design without connectors
The contact between the armor of the three-core oil cable and the metal sheaths shall be ensured by an unsoldered earth fitting. A thermoshrinking glove and tubing shall be seated on the metal sheaths to provide root protection and sealing. An oil-resistant yellow electric field control mastic shall be wrapped around the end of the metal sheath and transparent oil-resistant heat-shrink tubing shall be planted on the oil-paper insulated cores. A short conductive tube shall be planted at the transition of the metallic sheath to the paper-insulated cores and shall act as a shield. In this way, the oil-paper insulated cable is transformed into a plastic insulated cable, and the two cables are then connected accordingly. A yellow void-filling mastic shall be rolled over the cut-off point of the semi-conductive screen of the plastic cable, over the conductive tubes planted on the cores of the oil-paper cable, and over the connectors. A thermoshrinking electric field control tube shall be planted on the connection area of each conductor. The double-layered Thermo shrink elastomeric tube shall provide the required insulation thickness and shielding over the insulation. A copper mesh wrapped over the stranded area of the joint shall act as a metallic shield for the cable in the sleeve. The metal sheath of the oily cable and the metal shield of the plastic cable shall be connected using an unsoldered earth fitting. The external protection and sealing of the sleeve shall be provided by a thick-walled Thermo shrink tube with a layer of thermosetting adhesive on the inner surface. These tubes shall be planted on each core. For three-stranded cables, a single outer tube shall be seated on all cores and shall act as the outer sheath of the cable.
