Connecting sleeve for 10, 20 and 35 kV single-core cables with plastic insulation and wire or tape shield.

Design of the screw coupling

For cables with wire or tape shielding

A yellow void-filling mastic shall be rolled over the cut-off point of the semi-conductive shield of the conductor and a thermoshrinking electric field control tube shall be planted on the end of the conductor. The cores shall be connected with the screw connector included in the coupling kit and a wide electric field control tape shall be wound on top. A double-layer Thermo shrink elastomeric tube shall be planted on the cores to provide the required insulation thickness and shielding over the insulation. A copper mesh wrapped around the area of the core connection shall act as a cable sleeve
the metallic shield. For cables with wire shielding, the sleeve shall include a solderless shielding jointing system. For cables with strip shielding, the coupling shall include a non-soldered earth fitting which is also suitable for cables with aluminium foil shielding (e.g. AHXAMK-W). The external protection and sealing of the sleeve are provided by a thick-walled Thermo shrink tube with an inner surface coated with a layer of thermoplastic adhesive.

For cables with aluminium wire shield

In this sleeve, the cable elements up to the inner sheath shall be restored in the same way as for cables with wire or tape shielding. The aluminium wires are connected by a screw connector and a metal mesh is wound on top. The outer sleeve is protected and sealed by a thick-walled Thermo shrink tube with a layer of thermosetting adhesive on the inner surface.

Design of the coupling without connector

For cables with wire or strip shielding

A yellow void-filling mastic shall be rolled over the cut-off point of the semi-conductive shield and the connector. A Thermo shrinks electric field control tube shall be planted on the cable core at the splice area. A double-layered Thermo shrinks elastomeric tube shall provide the required insulation thickness and shielding over the insulation. A copper mesh wrapped over the stranded area of the splice shall act as a metallic shield for the cable in the sleeve. For cables with strip shielding, the sleeve set includes an unsoldered earth fitting which is also suitable for cables with aluminium foil shielding (e.g. AHXAMK-W). The external protection and sealing of the sleeve are provided by a thick-walled Thermo shrink tube with an inner surface coated with a layer of thermoplastic adhesive.
