Cable
The connecting sleeve is designed for 6, 10 and 35 kV three-conductor striped paper insulated cables with a flowable or viscous oil filler (MI, MIND) and a common metallic sheath.
E.g.: AASHv, SB, ABU, ACBU, ASBU, ASB-B.
Connecting sleeve design
For cables with taped paper insulation and common shield
Transparent thermoshrinkable, oil-resistant tubing shall be planted on oil-paper insulated cores. The tubing is filled with a yellow electric field control mastic which is also oil resistant. The cores shall be connected with the screw connectors included in the coupling kit and a wide EVM tape shall be wrapped over the top. The insulation of the cores shall be restored by placing thermoshrinkable insulation tubes on the couplers with a layer of thermosetting adhesive on the inner surface. The cavities between and around the cores shall be filled with a mastic which is fully compatible with the materials used for impregnating the paper insulation of the cable. The Thermo shrink tube shall be hermetically sealed to the metal sheath and the thermosetting mastic shall soften and fill all voids while displacing air. The solderless earth fittings and metal mesh in the sleeve replace the metal sheath and armour of the cable. An external Thermo shrink tube provides external protection and sealing of the sleeve.
For cables with taped paper insulation and a separate shield for each core
The oil-paper insulated cores are fully covered by heat-shrink, oil-resistant tubing and conductive tubing from the root to the end of the screen. The root is filled with a yellow electric field control mastic, which is also oil-resistant, and sealed by a conductive Thermo shrink glove with an adhesive layer, which is seated on the end of the cores and the metallic sheath. In this way, the paper-insulated cable is transformed into a plastic-insulated cable and then the ends of the cable are connected accordingly. A yellow void-filling mastic shall be rolled over the conductive end of the conducting tube and the connectors. A heat-shrink tube shall be planted on each core at the splice area to dissipate the electric field lines. A double-layered Thermo shrinks elastomeric tube shall provide the required insulation thickness and shielding over the insulation. A copper mesh wrapped around the area of the stranding shall act as a metallic shield for the cable in the sleeve. The metal sheath and the armour shall be joined without soldering. The cable armour shall be replaced in the sleeve by metal mesh or tape. The external protection and sealing of the sleeve shall be provided by a thick-walled Thermo shrink tube with an adhesive coating on the inner surface. All couplings shall be designed in such a way as to maintain the possibility of crossing the cores during phasing. The GUSJ coupling set shall include bolted thread connectors. EPKJ couplings do not include couplers.
