RICS, RCAB – Insulating T-shaped and straight adaptor system for 10 kV gas insulated switchgear with type C (400/630 A) inputs according to EN 50181

Insulating “T” Adapter RICS

Includes insulating housing, threaded core, fixing screws, end plug, and installation instructions. The kit contains materials for three phases. Cable lugs and end sleeves are not included. If two cables need to be connected, a second-paired – ‘T’ adaptor shall be ordered in a special set consisting of a contact pin, insulating body, threaded core, fixing screws, and end plug. This special adaptor is compatible with the first RICS-5733-Cu or RICS-5743-Cu adaptors and M16 lugs, except for the RICS-51×9 series adaptors, which are designed for installation with surge arresters.

Insulating straight adapter RCAB

Includes insulating housing and installation instructions. The kit contains materials for three phases. Fixing screws, threaded core, and cable lugs are not included. The threaded core with M16 thread can be ordered separately – the product code for ordering is EXRM-1366. The RCAB adapter is designed for use with Raychem end sleeves.
RCAB-4120 is suitable for voltages up to 12 kV, and cross-sections of 35-300 mm².
RCAB-5120 for up to 24 kV, 50-300 mm² cross sections.

Accessories for RICS Insulation Adapter

Plug for cable testing

The cable can be tested without removing the RICS Insulation Adapter. A test plug is screwed in place of the rear T-plug of the adapter. For inter-phase testing, two standard-length plugs and one extended plug shall be used.

RDA surge arresters

For insulated “T” adapters RICS-51×9

The RDA-type surge arresters have been developed specifically for gas switchgear. They are designed for voltages from 6 to 24 kV. For more information and technical specifications please contact your Raychem representative in Lithuania. The RICS 5009-50-22 type plug (blind) can be temporarily installed in place of the RDA surge arrester, and later replaced by a surge arrester if required.

Insulating “T” adaptors for connection to 630 A and 1250 A inputs (type C according to EN 50181)

Each RICS adapter is designed for a maximum current of 630 A. When pairing two T-adapters, the first adapter must be of a special design – RICS-5733-Cu or RICS-5743-Cu. The application limits of these special adapters are the same as those of the standard RICS-5133 and RICS-5143.

    Note: Adapters RICS 5113 and RICS 5123 are for use with cable lugs with a cavity diameter of 13 mm. All other types of adaptors are intended for use with cable lugs with a bore diameter of 17 mm. If the modification code -12 is added to the adapter’s designation, the adapter can also be used with cable lugs with a bore diameter of 13 mm, e.g. RICS 5133-12. Products with modification code -12 are not suitable for the connection of a surge arrester and for the installation of double adapters.

    MI – Mass Impregnated – cable with paper insulation impregnated with a flowable, liquid oil filler
    MIND – Mass Impregnated Non-Draining – cable with paper insulation impregnated with a viscous, thick oil filler
